How Equine Teeth Work
Normal equine teeth continually erupt until approximately age 20, while wearing away from chewing. This creates grooves that break down food — but problems occur when teeth don't wear evenly, creating sharp edges that cut the cheek and tongue. The veterinarian "floats" (smooths) these edges.
